The Salt Pile – Atlantic Salt
This past weekend, I spent some time photographing at Atlantic Salt, “The Salt Pile”. The “Self-Discharging” Bulk Carrier “Balder” was unloading tons of Rock Salt from Chile, in preparation for this coming winter. The Mountain has grown to great heights, but not for long, and soon there will be another ship replenishing the pile.
Thanks to Brian DeForest, Terminal Manager of Atlantic Salt, Inc. for giving permission to be in the yard and making these photos possible.

What kind of a vessel do you use for the harbor cruise?

Hi Patty,
Some of our harbor tours are aboard MV Zephyr, and some take place on smaller cruisers, eg: NY Water Taxi; NY Waterways; American Princess Cruises vessels. Our 2013 tour season has concluded, but stay tuned for our 2014 tour schedule in the Spring!
