We had dinner at Blue, the old RH Tugs, Tuesday evening during the rain storms. Traffic was quite active and I was able to capture a few shots through the window of the restaurant. Blue’s menu is quite different from RH Tugs but the great view of the Kill van Kull is still there.

Vane Bros. tugs were on the move with 2 tugs I have not seen before. Also a RoRo Don Jon and Kirby tugs passed.

This Saturday: August 16th there is a Hidden Harbor Tour leaving from Circle Line’s Pier 84 on the Hudson River at 42nd St. in Manhattan at 11AM. I will be there, hope you also will. Weather-wise, Saturday’s going to be a perfect photo day.

Don’t forget: the Tugboat Race is coming up. Sunday August 31 at 10AM on the Hudson River at W44th Street. Be a part of the high-powered action on the Spectator Boat and stick around for the fun competitions after the big race!

Update: the Historic Lighthouse Tender Lilac is closed this weekend Aug.16-17, due to a malfunction on Pier 25. Luckily, my photo exhibit “Tugboats, Workhorses of NY Harbor”, is on view through August 31.

See you onboard! John Skelson.
