It looks like the Bayonne wind turbine won’t be running again until the new year.
The windmill was due to be repaired and back in operation November 1st, but more delays getting the needed parts have pushed that date back at least 2 months, as reported by The Jersey Journal.
The Jersey Journal: Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority Executive Director Tim Boyle said the part needed to repair the turbine “was further back-ordered” and has been rescheduled to arrive in Bayonne in late December. The turbine was previously set to be repaired as early as this month. Boyle told The Jersey Journal the delay is “very disappointing news.”
The blades stopped spinning in June after only 3 years of operation, when a generator burned-out, rendering the turbine inoperable. Typically, these types of generators are supposed to last 20 years.
