Some feel-good news this morning from the NYPD Harbor Patrol. Eagle-eyed harbor police officers spotted a disturbance in the East River this weekend. Upon closer investigation, they discovered a juvenile hawk had become water-logged and was flapping around in the brink.
New York Daily News: Officer Christopher Kessinger, his arm protected in a plastic-covered glove, fished out the soggy Redtail. The desperate bird immediately latched onto him. On the boat, Kessinger and Officer Steven Khaykin dried the white and brown bird with a towel.
“He was just hanging out. He calmed down and knew we were not going to hurt him,” said Kessinger.
