There’s something missing from Mayor de Blasio’s citywide ferry plan, say some city council members along the Hudson River. Although the citywide ferry proposal adds 5 new routes to the existing network, there are none planned for the Hudson.
New York Daily News: Councilman Mark Levine (D-Manhattan) said he wants to resurrect a decades-old ferry route between 125th St. and New Jersey, and bring a new transit link to an area where Columbia University’s expansion will mean thousands of people coming in and out of the neighborhood.
“We really are a mass transit deficit there and this really will give us one more option to try to get people to and from the business district,” said Councilman Andrew Cohen (D-Bronx).
“New Yorkers along the west side up to Riverdale want and need this service as well,” said Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, the transportation committee chair.
