Our favorite Staten Island Ferry boat the John F. Kennedy caught fire yesterday as it approached the Whitehall Ferry Terminal in Manhattan. The fire was isolated to the vessels engine room, and quickly extinguished. Four passengers having respiratory issues from the smoke were transported to hospital for further care.
New York Daily News: The John F. Kennedy was approaching the Whitehall Terminal about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday when a small fire erupted in the 51-year-old ship’s engine room. The captain shut off the engine, quickly put out the fire and docked the vessel.
