Last Friday, the 10,000 TEU ship MOL Benefactor docked at Global Container Terminal in Bayonne, N.J. – becoming the largest containership the Port of New York/New Jersey has handled in its history. MOL Benefactor is part of a new G6 Alliance NYX service, which links ports in Asia with East Coast and South American ports.

GCT Bayonne terminal is currently the only container terminal capable of handling vessels of this size. Port Newark, Port Elizabeth and Staten Island terminals are off-limits until the roadway raising of the Bayonne Bridge is complete.
