Update from Chris KozelThey are NOT searching Long Island Sound, probably Great South Bay. Gilgo is south shore LI Sound is between North Shore & Connecticut. Incident was reported to the LI Sound sector of the Coast Guard.

Urgent: Boater fails to arrive at destination, search and rescue crews are on site. 

U.S. Coast Guard, Babylon and West Babylon Fire Department crews and Suffolk Marine and Air crews are searching for a missing boater in Long Island Sound near Gilgo Beach.

Coast Guard and partner agency crews are searching for an overdue boater, Sunday in the vicinity of Gilgo Beach, New York. USCG received the call yesterday evening around 9:30 pm about an overdue boater who had not arrived at his destination as expected. 48-year old Andrew Weiss was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, beige shorts and a white hat. The report says there was a life jacket onboard the 8-foot white and grey dinghy.

USCG News Release: The Sector Command Center is broadcasting an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to all mariners along the New York Coast. The public is asked to contact the Coast Guard Command Center at 203-468-4421 for any information that may help locate Weis.
