This Saturday, 17 September, 2016, the SS John W Brown will be operating steam all day! Open for ships tours everyday from 10 am – 4 pm, and on Saturday, visitors will have the extra treat of seeing her 14 ton triple-expansion steam engine at work.

SS John W Brown is one of two Liberty Ships that remain today. Launched in 1942, she was one of over 2,700 Liberty Ships built to transport troops and supplies during WWII. After the war, SS John W Brown became a floating high school for maritime training, right here in NYC.

The North River will be hosting the America’s Cup trials this weekend!

The course lies between the Statue of Liberty and Battery Park, where sleek, carbon and fiberglass catamarans will take to the waters at mind-blowing speeds.

Starting at 2 pm., you can watch from Waterfront Plaza at Brookfield Place or, for an up-close and unique perspective, you can watch the races from the water on the historic fireboat John J Harvey!

The trip is FREE with a $20 fully refundable reservation fee – or you could donate it to the fireboat preservation fund. 100% of your tax deductible donation goes towards restoring and maintaining this historic vessel. Your support is vital!
